CBT/RLT  for Teens

Children and Adolescent Psychotherapy / Child & Teen Life Skills

Children and Adolescents experiencing behavioral problems often have a difficult time adjusting to therapy. Unlike adults who usually seek therapy due to a self-realization that he/she needs help; children and adolescents are usually urged to attend therapy by adults (parents, care-providers and teachers or mandated by the court system). These kids will often resist therapy due to the aforementioned. They feel they don’t have issues or that they cannot trust adults. Children and adolescents will not openly communicate and cooperate with those they do not trust and they can detect someone who is not genuine with ease. Therefore, establishing genuine trust, rapport and a type of friendship is the key factor to clinical success. Without these rudiments behavioral change and the healing process cannot begin.
Our Primary Clinician and Director of NEBH, Tom Cordier is a specialist with Adolescents.  He is able to break through with many teenagers who typically will not open up to other therapists. Once he establishes rapport he is able to apply the CBT/RLT and help the adolescent get his/her life back on track and help relieve a lot of the stress that the family is going through. Give us a call if you are not getting anywhere with your teenager. We don’t guarantee that we can help everyone, but we certainly have had a tremendous amount of success in the past! Most of our patients come from referrals from other mothers and fathers.

THE NEBH TEEN - Self Confidence PROGRAM

The Just for Teens – Self Confidence Program

Because of the success rate with our adolescents, we started a group program called the Teen Confidence Workshop. Teenagers meet once per week in the evening to discuss personal issues and to learn the elements of CBT.  The classes extend over a 16 week period. At the end of the period the teenagers have a new sense of self and the ability to utilize the techniques on CBT.  Contact us for the next series of dates
